The 10th anniversary, on 35mm
When SXSW brought the original back for its 10th anniversary, the festival's senior film programmer made the case for it in print.
Neece and team have brought back one of the most beloved SXSW Midnight movies of all time: 2006’s ingenious meta-horror Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Neece said, “When they wanted to bring it back, and they had a 35mm print, we were like, ‘Yes, no-brainer.’”

The first license
Leslie Vernon reached the wardrobe long before the sequel existed. In 2010, Fright-Rags licensed the original film for a sweatshirt and a limited edition poster.
The print shown here is Scott's own copy, signed on the artwork by Robert Englund and Nathan Baesel.
